High Bodied Women Affected by Cancer Easier

For women, had a higher body is more promising if you want a career in modeling to flight attendants. However, be wary. Researchers find tall women at greater risk of getting cancer.

When the age of the 50s or post-menopause, any kind of cancer that attacks the breast, colon, endometrium, kidney, ovary, rectum, and thyroid, as well as multiple myeloma and melanoma easier to attack.

Scientists from Yeshiva University concluded, every difference of 10 cm higher, meaning 13 per cent more at risk.

Dr. Geoffrey Kabat, a senior epidemiologist Yeshiva University, said: "We were surprised at the number of cancer sites associated positively with height. From the results of data collection, more cancers associated with higher body mass index than the body."

"Cancer is the result of the processes related to growth, so it makes sense that a hormone or growth factor height may also influence cancer risk."

The scientists used data from a study that recruited post-menopausal women aged 50-79. At baseline, the women answered questions about their physical activity. Height and weight were also measured.

The researchers identified 20 928 women who had been diagnosed with one or more invasive cancers during follow-up of 12 years (research in progress by collecting experimental participants post-menopausal women in the years 1993-1998).

Among certain cancers, there are 13 to 17 percent increased risk of developing melanoma and cancers of the breast, ovary, endometrium, and colon. As well as 23-29 percent increased risk of developing kidney cancer, rectum, thyroid, and blood.

The findings were published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention.
